Besame Mucho

"Besame Mucho", which translates to "Kiss Me a Lot" in English, is a Mexican song written in 1940 by Consuelo Velazquez before her sixteenth birthday. According to Velazquez herself, she was inspired by an aria from a Spanish opera by Enrique Granados.

This song rapidly became one of the most popular songs of the 20th century. Emilio Tuero was the first to record the song. It has since been performed by several artists including The Beatles who had Paul McCartney singing it in one of their early recordings, and Kitty Kallen. It is a truly sultry and sensuous song.

Lyrics with Translation

Besame,
besame mucho,
Como si fuera esta noche la ¨²ltima vez,

--Kiss me,
kiss me a lot,
As if tonight were the last time

Besame,
besame mucho,
Que tengo miedo a perderte,
perderte despues

--Kiss me,
kiss me a lot,
For I'm scared to lose you,
to lose you afterwards

Besame,
besame mucho,
Que tengo miedo a perderte,
perderte despues

--Kiss me,
kiss me a lot,
For I'm scared to lose you,
to lose you afterwards

Quiero sentirte muy cerca mirarme en tus ojos verte junto a m¨ª

--I want to feel you very close,
see myself in your eyes, see you near me

Piensa que tal vez ma0Š9ana yo ya estare lejos, muy lejos de ti

--Think that maybe tomorrow I'll already be far,
very far away from you

Besame...

Quiero...

Besame...
